US Powerball — How to Play, Jackpots & Number Frequency Guide
What is US Powerball?
US Powerball is one of the world’s most famous lottery games, operated by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) and available in 45 US states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. It regularly produces the largest lottery jackpots ever recorded, including a record $2.04 billion jackpot in November 2022.
How to Play US Powerball
Players choose 5 numbers from 1 to 69 and 1 Powerball from 1 to 26. The Powerball is drawn from a separate drum. Draws take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 22:59 ET.
- Jackpot: Match 5 + Powerball
- $1,000,000: Match 5 (no Powerball)
- $50,000: Match 4 + Powerball
- $100: Match 4 / Match 3 + Powerball
- $7: Match 3 / Match 2 + Powerball
- $4: Match 1 + Powerball / Match Powerball only
Power Play Multiplier
For an extra $1, US Powerball players can add the Power Play option, which multiplies non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, or 10x (the 10x is only available when the jackpot is under $150 million).
US Powerball Number Frequency Analysis
With draws three times a week, US Powerball has a rich draw history making frequency analysis particularly useful for spotting hot and cold patterns. Win-a-Lotto’s engine tracks all main numbers (1–69) and Powerball numbers (1–26) separately across the complete draw record.
Jackpot & Odds
The jackpot starts at $20 million and grows with each rollover. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 292,201,338 — making it one of the most difficult lotteries to win the top prize.
